Event Description

The 2019 – 2020 Vex Competition is called Tower Takeover. It is played between two alliances, each with two teams, on a 12 foot by 12 foot field. The object of the game is to collect and score the different colored cubes that are placed around the field. Cubes are scored by being stacked in zones located at the edges of the field. There are also towers around the field, in which you can place cubes to increase the value of scored cubes of that color.

Event Summary: After a long year, our hard work finally payed off at what would end up being our last competition of the season. Our robot was on par with the other top robots in the competition, but we dropped a few rounds due to either malfunctions, an iffy program, or just plain bad luck. We ended up going 6 – 5 at the end of the qualification matches, which was worse than what we expected. However, we got matched up with a McMichael High School team, whom we had partnered with in earlier competitions as well. After overcoming brutally close quarter- and semi-final matches, we ended up going to the finals and winning. The only downside is that we were not able to go to Worlds that year, due to it being cancelled because of the coronavirus.
